When you hear the word “discipline,” do you cringe with aversion?
Or are you well-acquainted with it and can push through anything?
Maybe one, or the other, or neither…For me, I used to react with a scrunched face, cringing at the intensity, judgment and punishment I felt inherent to “discipline.”
After all, the agreed upon western definition of discipline (via Googs) is literally:
dis·ci·pline /ˈdisəplən/
nounthe practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior, using punishment to correct disobedience.
No thanks.
Discipline doesn’t have to be rooted in control and punishment.
It could be deeply loving, celebratory and joyful, empowering and devotional!
Listen to the Creation for Liberation Podcast about how discipline reinforces self-trust.
